Breathwork in Kent: A Simple, Powerful Way to Release Stress

By Shoana Taylor, Certified Breathwork Coach (Nevsah Institute), Personal Performance Coach and NLP Practitioner.

Breathwork is one of the most direct tools we have for calming the nervous system and letting go of stress that has built up over time. At Hever Health, breathwork sessions are led by Shoana Taylor, a Certified Breathwork Coach with the Nevsah Institute and an experienced Personal Performance Coach and NLP Practitioner. She works one to one with clients at our clinic at Hever Castle Golf Club near Edenbridge, and across Sussex and Kent.

What Is Breathwork?

Breathwork is the practice of using conscious, guided breathing to change how you feel in body and mind. Most of the time we breathe on autopilot, and under stress that pattern becomes shallow and tight without us noticing. Breathwork gently interrupts that habit. By breathing in a fuller, more connected way, you signal to the nervous system that it is safe to come out of a stressed, fight-or-flight state and into the calmer state where the body can rest, process and recover.

It is simple, it needs no special equipment, and the effects are felt in the session itself. Many people are surprised by how much can shift in an hour of focused breathing.

What Happens in a Session

Your first session begins with a short conversation about what has brought you and what you would like from the work. Shoana then guides you through a breathing practice while you lie down comfortably, staying with you throughout and adjusting the pace to suit you. Afterwards there is time to talk through anything that came up, and this is where her coaching background matters: the breathing creates release and clarity, and the coaching helps you make sense of it and carry it into everyday life.

You do not need any experience, and there is nothing to prepare. You simply arrive, and Shoana leads.

What Breathwork Can Help With

People come to breathwork for many reasons. It is commonly sought for:

  • Stress and anxiety and a mind that will not switch off
  • Emotional overwhelm, or the sense of carrying something you cannot quite put down
  • Low energy and burnout, and feeling depleted or run down
  • Sleep that is disrupted by a busy, wired nervous system
  • Feeling stuck or disconnected from yourself and what you want
  • Releasing the weight of difficult past experiences in a safe, supported way

Breathwork is a complementary wellbeing practice, not a medical treatment, and it works well alongside any care you are already receiving.

Breathwork and Coaching, Together

What makes Shoana’s sessions distinctive is that she combines breathwork with coaching in the same appointment. Breathwork on its own can bring a powerful release; pairing it with coaching means that release has somewhere to go. You leave not only feeling lighter, but with a clearer sense of what you want to do differently and the first practical steps to get there. For many people that combination is what finally moves something that has felt stuck for a long time.

Sessions and Prices

Breathwork, healing and coaching sessions are booked one to one:

  • 60-minute session: £70
  • 90-minute session: £85
  • Series of six sessions: £390 (a saving of £30)

A series is the option most people choose when they want to work through something properly rather than in a single sitting.

Is Breathwork Right for Me?

Breathwork is gentle and suitable for most people. Because the breathing is active, please let Shoana know in advance if you are pregnant, or have a heart condition, high or low blood pressure, epilepsy, a history of aneurysm, or any serious respiratory or psychiatric condition, so she can adapt the session or suggest a gentler approach. If in doubt, get in touch before booking and she will happily talk it through.

Breathwork FAQ

Is breathwork safe?

For most people, yes. It is gentle and non-invasive, and Shoana guides you throughout and adjusts the pace to suit you. There are a few conditions where a more cautious approach is needed, listed above, so let her know in advance if any apply and she will adapt the session.

Do I need any experience?

None at all. Most people come with no experience of breathwork. Shoana leads the whole session, so there is nothing to learn or prepare beforehand.

How will I feel afterwards?

Most people feel calm, lighter and clear-headed, and often notice how settled their body feels. Some feel a wave of emotion release during or after the session, which is a normal and healthy part of the process. Shoana leaves time at the end to talk anything through.

How many sessions will I need?

That depends on what you are working with. A single session can bring real relief, but if you want to work through something more deeply, a series of six gives you the space and continuity to do that, which is why it is the most popular option.

Where are breathwork sessions held?
