Massage Therapy at Hever Health

Muscle tension does not always announce itself loudly. Often it builds quietly: as stiffness in the neck after a long week at a desk, as tightness through the shoulders that never fully releases, as a low-level fatigue that accumulates in the body over time. Skilled massage therapy interrupts that cycle. It releases what has built up, restores circulation to tissue that has been compressed or restricted, and gives the body the space it needs to recover properly.

At Hever Health we offer a range of massage approaches, each suited to a different need and delivered by practitioners with deep expertise in their discipline.

Sports Massage with Connor Reid

Connor reid m ost

Connor Reid is a Registered Osteopath and sports massage specialist. His massage work draws directly on his structural clinical training, meaning every session is informed by a detailed understanding of biomechanics, soft tissue function and injury mechanics. Sports massage with Connor is not a generic treatment. It targets the specific muscles, fascia and movement patterns that are contributing to your discomfort, restriction or recovery challenge.

Sports massage is effective for muscle tension and restricted range of movement, recovery from intense training or competition, overuse injuries and repetitive strain, pre-event preparation and post-event recovery, and ongoing physical maintenance for active individuals.

Holistic Massage with Catherine Davidson

Catherine Davidson Hever health

Catherine Davidson holds ITEC and FHT accreditations and brings a warm, highly skilled approach to therapeutic bodywork. Her holistic massage sessions address the full picture of how tension accumulates in the body: through physical demand, postural strain and the everyday load of stress and busyness. All of Catherine’s massage treatments use Neal’s Yard organic oils, selected and blended to your specific symptoms, requirements and mood.

Catherine’s work is precise and purposeful, while also deeply restorative. Her sessions leave the body feeling genuinely lighter and more at ease.

Holistic massage is effective for chronic tension from desk work or postural imbalance, stress-related muscular tightness, general fatigue and reduced body awareness, and supporting overall recovery and wellbeing.

Specialist Massage with Kim Wimble

Kim Wimble is a holistic therapist qualified to BTEC Level 4 and a member of the Guild of Holistic Therapists, practising since 2008. Where Catherine’s focus is holistic bodywork with organic oils, Kim’s strength lies in targeted, technique-led treatment. She specialises in three complementary approaches: deep tissue massage for stubborn muscular tension, Indian head massage for the neck, shoulders and scalp, and hot stone massage for deep, radiant warmth that helps tight muscles let go. Every session is tailored to what your body needs on the day.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage works into the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue to release the knots and adhesions that lighter massage leaves untouched. Kim uses slow, firm, deliberate pressure to reach the areas holding the most tension, working with your breath and feedback so the treatment stays effective without becoming uncomfortable. It is particularly suited to long-standing tightness that has not responded to gentler approaches.

Deep tissue massage is effective for chronic muscular tension and knots, tightness through the neck, shoulders and back, recovery from heavy physical work or training, and postural strain that has built up over months rather than days.

Indian Head Massage

Indian head massage is a seated treatment focusing on the upper back, shoulders, neck, scalp and face, the areas where stress and screen work most often collect. Kim uses a sequence of firm and soothing movements to release tension around the head and neck, ease tightness in the shoulders and calm a busy mind. Because it is performed clothed and seated and needs no oils, it fits easily into a break in the day.

Indian head massage is effective for tension headaches and tightness in the neck and shoulders, stress and mental fatigue, eye strain and jaw tension from screen work, and a general sense of overload that sits in the upper body.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage uses smooth, warmed basalt stones to carry gentle heat deep into the muscle. The warmth relaxes tight tissue more quickly and more comfortably than pressure alone, allowing Kim to work at a deeper level while the treatment still feels calming and restorative. The result is a deep, enveloping sense of release that stays with you well after the session ends. If you would like to combine the stones with essential oils, our aromatherapy and hot stone massage brings the two together.

Hot stone massage is effective for widespread muscular tension and stiffness, stress and difficulty switching off, cold or sluggish circulation, and anyone who finds firm pressure too intense but still wants a deep, thorough release.

Choosing the Right Approach

If you are unsure which type of massage is right for your situation, sports massage vs holistic massage explains the distinction and how to choose. For guidance on how frequently to book, how often should you have a massage offers a practical framework based on your specific goals. Why stress often lives in your muscles explains the physiology behind the tension that most people attribute simply to overwork. And the physical benefits of regular massage beyond relaxation makes the case for treating massage as a consistent part of your health maintenance rather than an occasional treat.

Where tension in the soft tissue is being driven by deeper structural misalignment, osteopathy addresses what massage cannot reach on its own. For those managing a more complex sports injury, sports therapy offers a full assessment and rehabilitation protocol beyond what a massage session alone provides.

Looking for something gentler than a sports or holistic massage? A lymphatic drainage massage uses very light, rhythmic strokes to move fluid rather than work muscle, which makes it well suited to post-surgery swelling, fluid retention, and recovery. Catherine Davidson offers it here at Hever Health.

Frequently asked questions

What kinds of massage do you offer? A broad range across the clinic: sports and deep tissue massage, holistic and Swedish massage, and specialist treatments including pregnancy massage, warm bamboo, hot stone, aromatherapy, Indian head and Thai foot massage, and manual lymphatic drainage (MLD).

Which massage is right for me? If you have a specific injury, training goal or area of tension, sports or deep tissue massage is usually the right place to start. If you are carrying general stress and want to feel reset, holistic or Swedish massage is a better fit. If you are not sure, tell us what is going on and we will match you, or read our guide to sports massage versus holistic massage.

Who would I see? Massage at Hever Health is delivered by experienced, accredited therapists. Catherine Davidson (ITEC and FHT accredited, around twenty years’ experience) leads our holistic bodywork. Kim Wimble (BTEC Level 4, member of the Guild of Holistic Therapists, practising since 2008) delivers hot stone, aromatherapy, deep tissue, Indian head and Thai foot massage. Connor Reid (registered osteopath, M.Ost, and Level 3 sports massage) delivers sports massage.

How much does a massage cost? Sports massage is £60 for 60 minutes. Holistic and beauty treatments start from £35 with Catherine and from £20 with Kim. You can see the full list on our pricing page.

How often should I have a massage? It depends on why you are coming. For a specific issue, a short run of closer-together sessions often helps most; for general maintenance and stress, many people come every few weeks. Your therapist will suggest a rhythm that suits you rather than sell you a fixed package. There is more in our guide to how often you should have a massage.

Which areas do you cover? We are based at Hever Castle Golf Club, just outside Edenbridge, and see clients from across west Kent and the surrounding area, including Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, Sevenoaks, Oxted and East Grinstead. See areas we serve.

Is there parking? Yes, free on-site parking at the golf club, right by the clinic. It can be a little busier at weekends, but you should always find a space.

How do I book? Choose a time on our booking page and select your therapist or treatment. If you are not sure who to see, get in touch and we will help you choose.
